Unless you went to design school, you may not know – or even notice – the differences between various cabinet fronts. So, here’s a short primer on the styles of cabinet doors that you’ll see on display at Southside Building Center.
First on your lesson for today is some basic vocabulary. The large flat area of a cabinet is called the ‘panel’. The top and bottom pieces are called ‘rails’. The two side pieces are called ‘stiles’.
Now let’s move onto styles. Our raised panel cabinets have raised mouldings. These classic, never out of fashion cabinets are always in stock at Southside in Country Linen finish. We have a large variety of sizes – from small drawers to large pantries. Here’s a comprehensive list of all the sizes you can find any day, anytime. It’s big selection, bigger than you’ll find almost anywhere. You can mix and match them, add filler strips, and end up with a custom looking kitchen at stock price.
Another style is a recessed panel door, which is the reverse of a raised panel. Available with bevels or a simple shaker style, the clean, crisp lines lend themselves to many kinds of decor. Their minimalist design blends nicely with modern, yet it can also be a nice backdrop to Victorian, and still be a perfect Farmhouse style. With the straightforward, unornamented construction, they are easy to clean and maintain, too. We regularly special order many styles of Wolf Cabinets in many colors.
So now that you have the basics down, why don’t you come in and show of your new found knowledge?! Our sales team can answer any other questions you have, and then help you decide on which cabinets are right for your new kitchen!
