Everyone that passes by Southside Building Center notices our beautiful concrete art. It looks great in your yard or garden. But we found a local artist that is taking our concrete art to a whole new level. Sheri Whitehouse of Germantown brings the life out of each statue using paint! We talked to her recently, and she told us a bit of how she works.
She says that the first things she does is sort of get to know each piece. First she “talks” to each piece a little bit, then she draws in the eyes. This gives her a feel for the actual personality of the piece. Sherry actually gives each piece a name. She uses colored pencils to “dial” in her colors. “I’m really not totally crazy,” Sherry says. “Just a little eccentric!”
We don’t think it crazy at all, and you won’t either once you see her finished works of art. We hope to have some of them on display soon at Southside Building Center. In the meantime, take a look at these pieces. The work in progress is “Alice McKindley and Peter.”
If you’re interested in commissioning Sheri to do work for you, give her a call at 336-813-6641 or 336-767-0750. We love Sheri’s work, and know you will, too!
